PeakCam MCP server

Which MCP servers are PeakCam's own, from the official registry and from asking its own domain, whether they answer, and what they offer. A program checked each of these, nobody copied them from a product page.

Whose server it is
  • Registry nameio.peakcam/snowverified in the MCP registry

The registry name sits under peakcam.io. The registry only lets a publisher use that namespace after proving control of the domain through DNS or HTTP.

On 2026-10-19 the server answered initialize and tools/list without a sign-in. First answer in 118 ms.

Should an agent connect itConnect it, with care
  • Its tools do compare snow reports across ski resorts worldwide, but not get powder alerts when a resort reaches a snow threshold.

Said by rules from the measurements above. The likely first call is a model's pick from the tool list; read its description before relying on it.

What an agent can do with it

  • not sure · check live resort webcams before driving to the mountain
  • can do · compare snow reports across ski resorts worldwide
  • cannot · get powder alerts when a resort reaches a snow threshold

Each of the product's use cases, put to Jev against this server's tool list: can an agent do it with these tools?

Worth a look

None of the five warning signs in these definitions.

A program checks the server once a day: initialize and tools/list, no model. Tokens are the definitions' length at about four characters a token. The grade averages six checks of every tool's name, description, schema and annotations; it says how well the tools are described, not whether they work. The score weighs what was measured and nothing else: answering (25%), doing the product's job (25%), definitions (20%), context (10%), use (10%) and how readily a client connects (10%). A part that was not measured is left out, and a hidden instruction caps the score at 40. The state of vendors' MCP servers: method and numbers →

  • search_resorts

    Find PeakCam resorts by name (or part of one, or a region) and get their slugs with a one-line snow summary each. Call this first when the user names a resort; then use the slug with the other tools. Covers about 150 resorts in the US…

  • get_resort_conditions

    The latest snow report for one resort with provenance: new snow 24 h / 48 h, base depth, snow water equivalent, percent of normal, 7-day trend, rating, season status, plus a cam summary and the canonical PeakCam URL to cite. Sources…

  • get_resort_cams

  • get_percent_of_normal

    SNOTEL-fed resorts ranked by snowpack relative to normal: snow water equivalent against the station's own 1991–2020 median for today's date, deepest first, optionally within one state. Only measured station readings qualify, inside the…

  • list_regions

    Every state, province and country PeakCam covers, with resort, reporting, measured (SNOTEL) and cam counts and the hub page URL. Call it to learn the valid `state` values for find_powder, get_opening_dates and get_percent_of_normal, or to…

How to connect

Add the server to your MCP client config. Claude Desktop, Cursor and most other clients read this shape:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "snow": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://www.peakcam.io/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Add it

Claude Code, in a terminal

claude mcp add --transport http peakcam https://www.peakcam.io/api/mcp

Add to CursorAdd to VS Code

claude.ai, ChatGPT and other clients: add https://www.peakcam.io/api/mcp as a custom connector in the settings.

Each line is something a program found when it went looking: the registry entry, the server's own answer, a spec that parses. A missing line means we did not find it, not that it does not exist.
