What transfers is the process shape. An order arriving in an unstructured format, needing validation against a catalogue and stock before anything can move, is the same problem whether the item is a scaffold tower or a sofa. In rental we took intake from 4 hours to 3 minutes. What does not transfer is platform specifics — marketplace APIs, payment and returns flows, and the peculiarities of whichever storefront you run are learning curve on our side, and diagnostics is where the size of it becomes visible.

We are on Shopify. Are there not apps for this already?
For standard flows, often yes, and you should use them — an app is cheaper than a build. Automation earns its cost where the app stops: exceptions, mismatched supplier data, and processes that cross the storefront, the ERP, and a mailbox.
Will AI answer our customers directly?
It triages and drafts; a human approves anything that commits you — refunds, discounts, delivery promises. That boundary is set during diagnostics, not after an incident.
Is our order volume large enough to justify this?
Volume matters less than exception rate. A thousand clean orders a day may need nothing; two hundred orders with forty exceptions a day is where a person is quietly employed full-time doing translation between systems.
